SQLPro Studio App Reviews

2 Customer Reviews:

SQLPro Studio is brilliant! The interface is clean, clearly designed for OS X instead of a cross platform port. The UI is comfortable and responsive. The app is performant across millions of rows of data for the use cases I have, faster than most other tools I have used on OS X. The “Dark” theme could be closer to the “Dark” theme Omni Group uses which affects the entire UI and not just the list of tables and the SQL query inset. I think this change would improve the immersiveness of the tool and help it blend better with SublimeText 3 and OmniFocus 2 in my workflows. As it is, the mix of where the theme changes the UI and where it doesn’t feels like a frankenstein rather than a part of the application’s experience. Also, it would be great if SQLPro Studio had support for more relational databases and non-relational (NoSQL) databases which I find myself using the commandline for. These are really minor quibbles overall. Sure, they have impact for me, but as it stands SQLPro is a four star app which has relieved significant burden from my workflow. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

Excellent DB App

So far so good, extremely lightweight and responsive, no hangups. Please add support for sqlite and Mongo!

Buy It Again?

I bought a lifetime sub of this a few years ago but the “Restore purchase” doesn’t work. “Sadly” (to quote their website) they don’t have any control over this but they’re happy to offer me a 10% discount to buy what I already bought again!

Not designed for robust DB connections

For some reason, this DB client gets confused and hangs when the DB terminates the connection. Kind of like a web browser that hangs on a 404. If you're connecting to a flawless DB over a perfect network, this is for you. If you're working in the real world, don't waste the money...

SQLPro Studio - A Student's Best Friend for Database Management

As a grad student pursuing my Master's in Information Systems and now working on a Master's in Data Science and Engineering, I can't overstate how valuable SQLPro Studio has been. This app has been my go-to for all database-related coursework and projects. What I love most: *Intuitive interface that doesn't sacrifice functionality *Supports multiple database types (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.) *Excellent query editor with syntax highlighting and auto-complete The education pricing is a huge plus. It shows Hankinsoft really gets the student struggle - quality tools without breaking the bank. This pricing has made it possible for me to use a pro-level tool throughout my studies. Overall, SQLPro Studio has been indispensable in my academic journey. Whether you're just starting out or deep into advanced database concepts, this tool grows with you. Highly recommended for any student working with databases!

Best Of The Bunch

As a developer, I'm always looking for efficient and easy-to-use tools. When tools have too much fluff and clutter, I tend to avoid them. After trying most of the SQL utilities out there for Mac, I have settled on this one. It's low clutter, fast in and out, no fuss. My current project has me interacting with PostgreSQL v16 hosted on DigitalOcean. So far, SQLPro Studio has been flawless.

Best UI for PostgreSQL

I've tried about 5 or 6 UIs for managing PostgreSQL databases and SQLPro is by far the best.

lack of backup and import support

the tooling lacks mature features to back and restore data bases specfiicly around sql server and postgresql

Great cross db tool

Purchased in 2017, got a lifetime license for I think $100 at that time which included TSQL, MySQL, Postgress, etc... and it has been great. I connec to a wide variety of databases and one of my favorite features is that it stores what queries you ran, I write a lot of them and it's great to go back to something I have already written and want to run again. For the Developer, today I had a scare where after a restart it presented me with a screen that I don't have a license. Luckily quitting the app and opening it again solved the issue :)

good for any admin at any level.

Rock solid performance even with insanely long queries. I connect to dedicated servers, cloud servers and databases on the edge and have not had any issues. I'll be honest, there is a little bit of a learning curve but once you understand it is awesome. what i like the most is the query preview.

Doesn't work great

Sometimes takes forever to reconnect.

ABsolutely does not owrth money it costs

Just rudimentary SQL editor with basic syntax coloring and minimal functionality. Buggy and freqauently crashing moreover. It would be great free utility or $1.99 tool, but definitely not worth the money they ask...

excellent

Super clean interface, pleasure to use. My goto application for SQL on the mac.

DRBenham · 3 years ago

Almost perfect!

I don't like that I can't see the database name on the connect home screen where it lists all my databases. It's easy enough to change the database in the query editor but if I want to see the schema for a different database on the server I have to go back to the connect screen and make a new connection to the same server but in a different database. I also wish my home and end keys went to the beginning and end of the line not the whole editor window. Also the page up/down just moves the view and not the cursor.

The best so far...

I have tried many different client tools but this is the best so far I ran into. I wish to see more keyboard shortcuts over the time. Thanks to the developers for all their efforts.

Minimal Formatting is Great

Some SQL tools have way too much format and they give me a headache to look at all day. This formatting is more minimal and easier to look at.

nateville · 4 years ago

Not free

It appears under free apps. But then when you install it, they ask you to pay for it.

tomusiaka · 4 years ago

Unacceptable Practices

I paid for a perpetual license for SQLPro Studio. After an update, Oracle support has been temporarily removed until Oracle supports Apple Silicon. This is unaccepatable! The lifetime license is not cheap at $219. I run an Intel Mac, which would still work fine, and the developer decides to drop support on a platform that was working. For the price I paid, I expect the legacy Intel platform to remain operational.

A must have tool in my toolbox

Love this app! Constant updates, responsive support. The interface is very intuitive. If you're looking for a database management tool, look no further as this app has it all.

i found a bug

ERROR when show the properties of an NVARCHAR cuando veo las propiedades de un objeto "NVARCHAR" me toma la longitud al doble de la que realmente tiene, Ya que toma la longitud de los bytes, que diferencia de un "VARCHAR", "NVARCHAR" trabaja con 2 bytes PERDI 5 horas encontrando un error que no existia en mi SCRIPT. -_-"

Better than SSMS

I work in SQL Server Management Studio almost all day. But for writing queries that I plan to use in Python/Jupyter, I much prefer using this tool. I think it does a lot of things far better than microsoft and is easily worth the money to buy it.

Surrealcoder · 4 years ago

Not free

Very clunky interface to get anything set up. Says it's free for a week, but will not execute any queries without paying for the premium product after 2 or 3 queries. Not good.

jdjcjcmcjccujxxjxjcxj · 4 years ago

Some missing UI features

I'd like to see an option to change the "Run.." hotkey. Shift CMD E is awkward. Something like CMD R would be nice. Also, having to select the query before running it is awkward. it should default to the command your cursor is on. Or possibly offer a different hotkey to run the command your cursor is on.

jmfairc · 5 years ago

why advertising as free but it's not

let you connect to a db then ask you to pay

Nantes dev · 5 years ago

Why all the updates?

This is a great program, probably the best one it this category. But it's constantly updated, and normally that's a good thing but not in this case. Sometimes 3 updates a week. Look, your target audience are developers, and if you have to constantly push updates you're doing something wrong, and we know it. Just make a list, check off your tasks and then push an update once a month. Again, we're developers using this program, and we don't like our stuff messed with. These constant updates are annoying. And turning on auto updates is not the answer.

Great DB Tool, Fantastic Support

This is my go-to software package for all things database. I switched last year from developing on Windows to Mac, and needed something to replace MS SQL Server Management Studio. I tried quite a few of the available solutions for MacOS, and this was the one that outshined all the others. It's simple and clean, intuitive, handles multiple database systems, and most importantly: handles large data sets with ease. As I continue to use it, I identified a few things that I missed from some of the other tools I've used. I submitted feature requests through the github issue tracker, and most of the requests were handled within a week. The developer is very responsive, and does a great job of keeping the product evolving to meet customer needs. Thanks for creating an indispensable software package!

spend the money

Ya, so, oracle didnt update mysql workbench, but seriously, this is better anyway. I am really happy.

Keeps getting better

Love this app, use it daily for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server admin.

Not free

This app requires a subscription or $200 for one-time payment to view query results. False advertising.

Fast and Effective

I moved my workflow from a Windows machine using Microsoft SQL studio tool to a Mac. I did a lot of research and testing with the various tools that could interact with the specific SQL server set up I needed. This is hands down the fastest and most effective. Thank You!

Very nice and quick response from devs

Been using this for about a month now and it's been great. I have found a few bugs that I reproted, and the turn-around on fixes was amazing! Keep up the great work!

Has SSH Tunneling

This was one of the most important things I was looking for in a quick easy to use desktop SQL tool. It does exactly what I need it to, and understands things I didn't expect it to. Would buy again. And again. And Again.

luckystrikeguy · 5 years ago

Completely Useless unless you pay

It isn't free at all. You have to pay to execute a query....

migueliguel · 5 years ago

Would be nice if you could actually query a database

This looks like a slick tool with the right features. Unfortunately, I can't even try anything, because on the first attempt at querying a database, I get prompted to subscribe to the Premium subscription to view the results. I understand the Freemium model for apps, but this is taking it a bit too far. Uninstalled.

CodeAndData · 5 years ago

Properly the best!

I'm a Mac user, and it's not always easy to find the right tools when working within the Microsoft enviroment like MS SQL. I just made the switch from Aqua Data Studio after several years...and SQLPro is just faster, more intuitive and i simply love the dark mode for late night development :-)

Abel9000 · 5 years ago

Constantly Updating From User Feedback

This tool has now become indispensable in my workflow. I like having this editor as a separate application because it focuses on one thing really well, databases, and not just one, but many! I've been using various versions for years, and I've been able to make worthwhile popular suggestions to the developer of the application and he's implemented them. Each version he releases is better than the last and well tested without bugs. The price alone is competitive for what it does and all of those free database tools out there are garbage because they don't do all that this does in one package.

Awesome Mac Client for SQL Server

I moved to OSX (now MacOS) years ago, but had to use Parallels to run a Windows session, or worse, an RDP/RDC Client, for my query tools on SQL Server. No More! My preferred environment now to do anything SQL. Still requires an RDP session for some administrative stuff on SQL Server. If you hate leaving your MacOS environment to do SQL stuff... or if you want a nicer interface for query creation, running, etc - SQLPro Studio is amazing!

EDSchulte · 5 years ago

Tech support awesome

For a novice person to SQL, the tech support has been awesome. Easy to run queries and update records. Best product I have encountered for the MAC world

Great!

I use this app all the time at home and work. It works with all the databases I interact with, runs fast, and is issue-free! Worth every penny!

No Issues

Does what it says, no issues, clear and easy to use. worth it.

Purchased Product for $219 and no access or licence

This is a good product, however instructions should be written inside that explain how to use it when the purchase is made in the app store.

RadoSun · 6 years ago

Nearly Perfect

Very good DB Manager to cover all my bases, except one... Mongo. Yea, I know that's a very different beast. But agreed if you need do SQL Server or Postgre on the Mac, this is your best choice.

Excellent Tool!

This does everything that I need it to do! Works with a many different types of databases.

My go to SQL development tool on Mac

If you have grown tired of other tools and want something that works well look no further. I've grown tired of PostgreSQL's free admin tools, they are just awful and not built by anyone that needs to actually use them on a regular basis. I find the support for this app to be top notch and the author seems to maintain and solve bugs regularly which is a nice plus for the high price you are paying!

davesimmons.io · 6 years ago

Amazing Tool

I work regularly between different database types. Having to keep bloated tools for each on my machine and jumping around between them is a total productivity killer. Having everything centralized, with ability to quickly move between environments has been a real life saver. I've seen substantial increases to productivity that no other tool I've tried has come close to matching.

AdamAmSH · 6 years ago

The best

Absolutely love this app. I downloaded 6 different SQL tools a few months ago, and this was one of them. As I tested each one, I ended up deleting all the others. Absoutely love the interface, but also love all the feature, performance, and how intelligently everything is implemented. Perhaps my favorite feature of all: the developer. He is *very* responsive to feedback and is *constantly* cranking out meaningful updates. It's already a fantastic tool, and at the pace he's going, I cant imagine how great it'll be 3 months from now.

Excellent Product

I have been using this for over a year. Excellent product and prompt customer support via email. I really like the ssh jump feature.

1 month review

I like this app alot. I use macbook pro with an oracle database. This is really a good to query data and see basic structures. As far as using PLSQL I have not really looked if it is possible but I use SQL developer. I use this soley for querying and the dark mode look is just awesome! recommend if you have dark mode and work exclusily on mac with Oracle database and SQLserver

Needs autocomplete of tables and column names

Bad/nonexistant autocomplete; but a better option not available on a mac
